OK, so suppose I temporarily lose possession of my wits (possibly with the aid of a bottle of Bombay Sapphire) and book plane tickets for the summer. What's the most sensible route: fly into Istanbul and head east, going Turkey-Georgia-Armenia-Azerbaijan and fly out of Baku, or the other way around, flying first into Azerbaijan, and out of Turkey?

If I do option A, I'm easing myself into it a bit more, going from a country with a fairly strong tourist infrastructure to those with almost none. On the other hand, I'm not totally averse to chucking myself in at the deep end and seeing what happens, and option B would mean that if I did end up running out of time and having to race through some countries to make the flight, I'd be mainly racing through Turkey, which isn't really what I'm going to see (the reason I'm flying out of there is that double-entry visas for all these places are incredibily expensive and there's no cheap flights from anywhere else in the region apart from Baku). On the other other hand, the deep end is probably really quite deep, considering my total lack of any Russian, Azeri, Georgian, Armenian or Turkish. God, this really is a ridiculous idea, isn't it?

In the meantime, it would be nice if the embassy websites of these places could have two pages which agree on the visa regulations.
